Chantelle Anfuso, Principal Investigator
Dr. Chantelle Anfuso is a Professor of Chemistry at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). With a background in Physical Chemistry, Dr. Anfuso enjoys engaging students in undergraduate research projects related to chemistry, spectroscopy, and laboratory curriculum development. However, since joining GGC in 2012, much of her scholarly work has focused on student success and achieving equity and inclusion for both students and faculty. She has previously helped manage grants that supported the implementation of high-impact practices for STEM students as well as faculty professional development through faculty learning communities (FLCs) and Mobile Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching (MoSIs). Dr. Anfuso is committed to further scholarly activities that will continue to make GGC a wonderful place for both students and faculty of diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Marni Brown, Co-Principal Investigator
Sociologist Dr. Marni Brown is a professor in the Human Services and Cultural Studies (HSCS) department. She studies and teaches gender, intersectionality, and social inequality. She is an interdisciplinary and collaborative scholar, partnering with faculty across the college on a variety of projects. She is involved in both faculty, staff, and student LGBTQIA+ organizations and was also a co-author of the book Gender and Sexuality Matters in the Classroom: An Educator’s Guide (2022) with Routledge publishers. She has served as a reviewer for the journals Gender & Society, Contemporary Sociology, and Teaching Sociology. Lastly, Dr. Brown is involved in professional sociological organizations, recently becoming elected the Southern Sociological Society (SSS) President for the 2027 meeting.
Dr. Sonal Dekhane, Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Sonal Dekhane is currently a faculty and associate chair of student success in the Computer Information Systems department at Georgia State University. She has a Ph.D. in computer science and served as a faculty member in the Information Technology department at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) for more than 15 years. During this time at GGC she also served in several leadership roles, such as department chair, assistant dean, and interim dean. Dekhane’s work has focused largely on improving computing education and broadening participation in STEM, and has resulted in consistent grant funding, publications and presentations. As a leader in higher education, her efforts are also focused on faculty development, faculty equity, and institutional inclusive excellence. Her efforts have been recognized and appreciated by the community through several awards, such as the GGC Outstanding Faculty – Student Engagement award and the Women in Technology – Woman of the Year STEAM Education award among others. Dekhane has also served as a Program Director for the National Science Foundation where she supported broadening participation in STEM efforts.
Dr. Kyungsoon Wang, Research Data Analyst
Dr. Kyungsoon Wang works as a research data analyst for the GGC NSF ADVANCE Catalyst grant and provides support for projects pertaining to gender and racial equity and diversity in academia settings. She has participated in studies on urban challenges and policies that promote resilient, sustainable, and healthy neighborhoods and cities. Dr. Wang’s work and education have been highly interdisciplinary, spanning various themes related to socioeconomic effects of urban issues and public policy, resulting in several publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Urban Studies, Journal of the America Planning Association, the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Cities, the Journal of Urban Affairs, Housing Policy Debate, Applied Geography, and so on. She received her doctoral degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
